07/21/05: Well, keep in mind how little of the video game industry was even American.

Posted by: Emperorseth

Sure, it was American in the Atari age, but from the NES on it was primarily Japan-based except for some computer-based companies, and there's a very strong European market as well. For example, Rock Star, the makers of Grand Theft Auto, are Scottish.

And grundle, the "freedom-loving vs. freedom hating" comparison is just silly. Outside of the extremes of the libertarian and fascist idealogies, everyone believes in some but not all freedoms. Even freedom loving liberals obviously don't share a libertarians views on economic "freedoms" or they'd be, you know, libertarians. And Clinton and other "freedom-hating" liberals are just as likely to be supportive of abortion, gay rights, and other issues.

Damn it, why do the interesting discussions I actually care about start on thursday?
