You know, that's kind of like the "only Nixon could go to China" thing.
Members of certain parties can't say certain things because they know it will cost them elections. But the opposition party can often break ranks to say those things the other party won't - like Republicans against the death penalty, or for gun control.
Hillary knows that her core supporters won't break with her over this because the alternative would be to vote for a Republican.
