01/04/08: The truth is, the Soviets were the "good" guys in Afghanistan

they:

- supported womens' rights
- built roads, schools, etc.
- supported redistribution of land in the countryside - actively opposed the mujahedeen, who were proxies of the Pakistani ISI

On the other side of the Soviets were people who threw acid in the faces of women and were only slightly worse than the Taliban in terms of human rights.
