Was it just me, or did anyone else catch the brilliant Showgirls reference in this movie? It was sweet and well thought-out, and the neanderthal sexism and homophobia that Cranky seems so desperately to want to nail Smith with is misinterpretation. Kevin Smith is not a malicious filmmaker, and to try and protray him as having been peddling devolved cliches is incorrect. It's such a shame that he and Joey Lauren are no longer together. But I can't wait for "Dogma," especially since Linda Fiorentino's going to be in it (so's Chris Rock) and it's going to be in scope.
