The first time I saw this movie something bugged me about it. I watched it again and it hit me. I felt it bordered on lesbian bashing and what offended me the most was that Kevin Smith used a gay man to deliver the harshest line. "Most of those "boys" are scary". And that whole bedroom speech when Amy explained "why" is such a straight man talking! The message seemed to be that, left alone, gay people will come to the "right" decision and find a "normal" partner. That seems to be a straight theory, misconception, fantasy, whatever. And why didn't Banky get his big speech? Everyone else did. If, God forbid, I was in love with a straight man and he offered to sleep with me I would refuse. It wouldn't help, it would make things worse. (Banky was gay, just repressed as hell). Just a thought.
