In fact I can. I've stayed at hotels before that didn't have a 13th floor- a friend of mine in the "hospitality industry" says it's actually more common than you might think.
He told me that the important thing is to cater to the customers. He rented a room to one guy who did not, under any circumstances, want a TV in his room. The guy told him that the Government has installed special equipment in TVs so they can spy on us 24/7. So the TV was removed from the room before the guy got to the hotel. He said that he had another guy who insisted on having black sheets hung over his room windows and that these were to be doused each day with Lysol, and he said that this was done, too.
