Im so glad I saw chicken run. At last a movie unrestricted by the awful rules that control how movies for the US market are made. No one ever says "lets get outa here". There are no fights, no chases and NO FIREARMS AT ALL. There is a witty script with jokes for all ages including great visual jokes like "chocks away" But that is probably too culturally opaque for American audiences and a US script committee would have cut it right out. As for modelling the script on the "Great escape" - thats just one of the running gags which make this movie worth seeing. Of course Mr Cranky is dead right that US kids would hardly understand a word and miss the jokes and hate the claymation. But Im glad not all movies are hacked up to fit what American kids can understand.
