There are millions and millions of young people who take Mtv seriously. Who use it as a resource for their news, including political news.
Any savvy politician will take Mtv seriously because it will get them votes.
I am over 20, and watch the channel from time to time. Do you watch? It is from experience and (if you can call it) research thtat I have arrived at this opinion of mine: Mtv is MOST DEFINITELY politically motivated. I wish I could quote you some stats verbatim, but I think if you were to look up the number of 18-25 year olds who voted in the 1992 election, and how many of them voted for Clinton, you might feel differently about the "Choose Or Lose" bullshit. Bullshit it may be, but it's bullshit that a whole lot of people are listening to - people who are young, but ARE old enough to vote. That concerns me. It's as if there are millions of young people out there listening to one voice, not bothering to do any sort of thining or investigating. It's like they think "Well, Mtv says jhate crime legislation is a good idea, so it must be."
How can anyone say Mtv is not politically motivated when they have these "campaigns" - choose or lose, erase the hate, and whatnot.
I don't know how much time you've spent watching Mtv, but if you still don't think they have an agenda, it can't be much. I take Mtv seriously only in the respect that they (executives, I guess) seem capable of capturing the attention of a whole lot of voters.
