This wonderful movie that justifiably garnered five Oscar nominations is such an unexpected delight that one hardly knows where to start to describe its seamless editing, cinematography and superb soundtrack. At last, a musical score that complements the story and doesn't propel it forward screaming and kicking. At last, an ensemble cast that complements each other and where even the 'stars' with a capital S do not monopolize the camera. A non Hollywood 'little' film rich with nuances and unscripted expressions on the face of the characters both major and minor that speak volumes...Truly an uplifting movie to attend on a gray day when you want to experience a little bit of cinematic magic in the old fashioned sense of the word. And let me not forget to mention the luscious scenes of rich, dark chocolate swirling and being stirred and lovingly crafted into fantastic confections to delight the eye, the tastebuds and yes, even the passions of the simple town folk. Had there been an intermission in this flick, the sales of chocolate items would have gone through the roof. Truly a surprising discovery for chocolate aficionados. I defy anyone to last twenty four hours without purchasing one's favorite chocolate treat...or even on the way home from the movie.
