I'm a person who would call myself Christian. I wish there were another term I could use for it, maybe it would be better to say I am a follower of Christ or that I have a relationship with Him.
That said, I hate hearing about the type of "Christians" you are talking about too. If a person were truly following the example of Jesus Christ, they would not be judgemental or critical, because they would know that it is not their place to do that.
See, it's stupid for us to point our fingers at others and yell and scream and it hurts my heart to see people out there using God or Jesus in the name of hate. Saying God hates homosexuals or atheists is wrong. God only hates 1 thing- sin. And that is something we are all guilty of. We are all flawed and imperfect.
But the beautiful thing about the real Jesus is that He loves us anyway. Enough to die for us despite all the wrong things we do. He loved us enough to die for us. All we have to do is accept that.
I can understand your hatred of people who have called themselves Christians, and ask for your forgiveness. They too are flawed and prone to sin, and it sounds like you have experienced some terrible things from the mouths of these people.
Paul
