Wow...Mr. Cranky gets you all riled up! "Citizen Kane" is great movie for a lot of reasons, which you can read in any book on film technique. It's a film made with bravado about failure by people who never thought they would fail. To a lot of viewers it probably looks dated but I would have to say that those viewers lack imagination and any feeling for history. Since the movie itself is about history and lack of imagination, that would be a fatal blindness on the part of today's viewers. Sure, a healthy disrespect for the past and for the canon of "art" is a good thing. So I'll just say that "Kane" is art and if you can't see it for what it is, go watch an action movie or
