I really wish Mr. Cranky wouldn't even bother reviewing good movies. I always feel vaguely embarassed reading his "one bomb" reviews. He tries so hard to bitch about good movies when he should be spending his time polishing the true gems of mediocrity. The Kane review is an obvious example. There is no way Mr. Cranky actually believes that the movie was actually about a sled. I understood the first time I saw it that it was only a symbol for his lost childhood. Citizen Kane, like King Lear, only really want's love. They just don't know how to go about it. Lear understands his failure in the end; I'm never really sure that Kane does. I think he may only understand that he took a wrong turn somewhere and that his lack of a childhood had a lot to do with it.
So could Mr. Cranky just stop bother lying to us and saying that he actually feels destroying the negatives of Kane would be a good thing? Why even bother writing something like that? Yes, yes, I know it's Mr. Cranky, not Mr. Sunshine, but could we save the venom for the truly deserving, like Bruckheimer?
