i resent ur comments about the result of the search for rosebud ending in the discovery that rosebud was his sled. this is deeply symbollic as the yearning for a long lost innocence, and revererbates back to the proverb of "money cant buy happiness" and relates specifically back to the souring of the american dream. and why cant rosebud be a sled? his childhood was the only time he was well and truly free - and it was this freedom and ease of existance that he so dearly desired! Such a popular movie is able to continue due to its versitility and ongoing contemporary relevance and any film maker who is able to successfully create this much manipulation is one to be congratulated! Citizen Kane defines the American film industry, being the first movie to incorporate high ceiling shots, a film-noir type of lighting, extreme cases of juxtaposition and the first convincing and well thought out example of versimilitude! Surely such and indepth move that can be classed as a landmark film, and set so many precedents (the film most often reffered to in other films and television shows) can be appreciated and admired! If you are not content with the end result, surely you can bring yourself to appreciate the artwork and brain power behind such an indepth, powerful and emotive film - that stirs deep emotional responses in all of us.
