First of all, I must say I am black and I enjoy all kinds of music from rock, heavy metal, rap, hip hop and even mood music. Every type of music is an art form and while I may not like the message in rap music (today), I highly doubt any one on this message board that criticizes rap can apply poetry to a rhythmetic beat the way rappers do. It kind of reminds me of coffee shop poets. In addition, no one can move the way the dancers do in those videos (I know I can't). While I listen to mostly rock music (because it has instruments and great lyrics) however I can't deny the impact rap and hip hop has had on our society and the black culture. Rap brought breakdancing into the main sream audience. People still breakdance and it is very awesome to watch. I personally like the happy rap music where there is dancing and people looking like they are having fun (such as Missy Elliot). My point is I believe that many rock artist have taken certain elements out of hip hop and made rock cool such as Korn, Linkin Park, Evanescance (just to name a few) and they are the reasons that rock sounds more awesome than ever before.
