that's some leftover subplot loose ends from the book that Kubrick left in for some reason: in Stephen King's "The Shining", the costume ball that Torrance "attends" is detailed a lot more. One of the details are a pair of rich twenties gadflys, a bisexual and his gay, doggy-costumed compadre. I remember it because it was my first encounter with the term "AC/DC" until I learned WHAT IT IS TO ROCK!
