Mmmm....rum....
"The Shining" wasn't really scary, but it was creepy as hell. I've never looked at the 1920's the same since seeing that movie. And that naked old woman...can't watch that again. Yech!
Scatman Cruthers typifies the "sacrifical black man" character so common in horror/sci-fi movies. I liked him more than the wife and the kid. In fact, I hate that little psychic brat. I'd flip out if I had a kid like that. Shit, the real reason Jack flips out is because his kid is crazy and his wife is fugly.
I don't remember that scene Shadow mentions. Guess it's been to long.
How did that ghost let Jack Nicholson out of the store room? If ghosts can move objects, why don't they kill people themselves?
Personally, the best thing about seeing "The Shining" was that I could later enjoy the parodies made of it, like the "The Shinning" on the Simpsons, or the bit on Cartoon Network with Pixie, Dixie, and Mr. Jinx.
