I hate few films more than this syrupy slop-fest.
Remember when the Von Trapp family escapes northward over the mountains to escape oppression by the Nazis during the Anschluss?
Problem: if that's what they did they went from oppression to its even more effective version, as their route would have taken them directly into southern Hitlerian Germany proper.
