As a fan of Kenny Ortega,
Whom, judging solely by his directorial work with Newsies, I now respect and idolize...
The plot has holes. Show me one that doesn't show up on "Moviebloopers.com." Bloopers are arbitrary... something to use to your own effect when you want everyone to know how much you hate whatever cinematic venture is in question.
But watch, if you will, the astounding level of effort and planning that ensued just the camerawork (!) of Newsies. That and so much more! Don't get me wrong... Evita is awesome. That's why It won all the awards. I am a dancer, I am a film student, and I am a musician.
On that grounds I judge myself able to make a sound critique. I say it was a great time for a cheesy, light-hearted, family-oriented, tap-your-foot and sing-along musical.
In terms of ENTERTAINMENT, think about it? Which would you rather watch after a rough day?
