I recently figured out that about 50% of the songs that KZQZ, or Z95.7, plays are indeed those horrible, boring, drum-machine dance songs. Another 25% are songs that aren't great but are tolerable. (The songs of the Backstreet Boys come to mind.) And the remaining 25% of the songs are good or great. This simple system has actually proven to be pretty accurate, and it's worth slogging through the crap to get to the good stuff. (I'm currently at work on a short story in which a college student is haunted by evil messages from his Top 40 station; if it's good when I finish it, I might post it in segments here.) Also, KITS is growing on me fast, but I'm having trouble getting the other stations you mentioned to come in well.
