If you play a lot of games on your PC, you'll definetely want to upgrade by those season dates that I have given you. If you play a few games and do not consider yourself a gamer then you don't need to upgrade - you only need to upgrade when you can't play a certain game that requires optimum performance. If you do video/3d processing then you always want to upgrade every single year to get something faster and faster. Since I don't do that I upgrade something 3-4 times more powerful which keeps me up to date for another 2 years if I keep using the same thing over and over again. If you have a computer just to do stupid stuff like web surfing on dialup access, emails, stupid 1995 computer games like minesweeper then you should have at least a computer that's worth $80-100 (300mhz P2)
