Yes, I am. But now that I've got your attention, a few brief things:
- Fiona Apple is the bomb. Listen to her "When the Pawn..." CD this instant. It gets better every time, and "I Know" has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. (And "Get Gone" one of the best "angry" songs.)
- As of today, I stop writing "O.K." and start writing "okay." For years, I have persisted with the former spelling because of loyalty to the alleged derivation of the word (the misspelled "orl korrect"), but now I've moved past that, and am ready to begin a relationship with "okay." The world has become a better place.
- Thinking about the uproar my story "Warm Summer Night" caused here, I realized that because I wrote exactly the story I wanted to write, I wasn't particularly interested in revising it, regardless of the quality.
But here's the thing. I've just finished the "first final draft," if that makes sense, of a new story called "Dirt Clods." I like this one a lot more than the last one, but this one I want to get just right - that is, I'm actually, believe it or not, looking for commentary on the technical aspects of the story - the tiny linguistic details that could be changed. This one I want to get just right.
I'll post it on Friday or Saturday. And I'd appreciate feedback.
