03/16/98: Why Didn't Truck Sink In Plot Holes?

Posted By: Cumquat

The worst part of this movie was the wide and deep plot holes:

1. You can drive a vehicle slowly through a wide stretch of molten lava without the tires blowing out, or the gas tank blowing up, or the engine catching fire,...etc? 2. When the bridge goes over a fairly wide, swift river we are told that this was the only way out of town. Within 48 hours we see the rescue scene at the town mine where there are a swarm of vehicles. How did they get there? 3. The acid lake is eating through the bottom of the boat, yet the little outboard motor putt putts on undisturbed until the far shore is almost reached. Very durable little motor indeed. 4. There is a law of physics, evidently, that says fireballs move at a speed of less than ten miles per hour. Thus in many movies we see actors outrun them. A similar law must exist that allows vehicles to outrun an exploding volcano.
