Sure it works on an intellectual level and is fine for discussion, but it has no way of generating an emotional reaction, an attachment to characters, any kind of real human response. And yes, I know you could go on your nihilistic hibbity-hoo-blah rants now about how it's all meaningless, whatever. Far From Heaven was interesting as an experiment, but, like I said, it was an experiment that proved its point at the 15 minute mark. From then on, you kept waiting for something new, and nothing ever showed up.
