09/03/1998: Christmas video release of "Saving Steven Spielberg"...

Vegeta: (glad to see you posting again, by the way) Spielberg will play whichever manuever is sure to get him an Oscar, because he know that the video will get big bucks either way... I think he will hold on a while, waiting to see if he can rerelease the film if it wins the Oscar...

Ah, yes, before anybody starts getting Cranky on my predicting an Oscar nomination, I'll give my reasons for saying so:

1) It is a drama (a war drama at that) directed by Spielberg, starring Tom Hanks, and with Matt Damon hidden there...

2) It is the summers' second largest hit, with possibility of making the top...

3) Audiences loved it (I'm talking in general, not about whomever is reading this)...

4) The major critics loved it...

5) Not much competition forecasted from releases in November-December. Look at the films aiming for the Oscar (Kubrick postponed his "Eyes Wide Shut", by the way): "Shakespeare in Love", "A Civil Action", "Snow Falling on Cedars", "The Thin Red Line", "The Prince of Egypt", "You've Got Mail", "The Siege", the remakes of "Rear Window" and "Psycho", and perhaps "Babe 2"... Aiming, I said, not worthy (look at "The Postman")... Frankly, the only films I'm really looking forward to seeing is John Carpenter's "Vampires" and Bryan Singer's "Apt Pupil", and perhaps Cronenberg's "eXistenZ"... That's not to say that I'm not going to watch other films, however...
