and been threatened with a lot more, I obviously don't need to be schooled on racism in the rural south. Originally, when I heard about this, I felt a lot like Coaster originally felt, but in my case, it was more because I felt this was giving black people yet another black eye as the were once again proving they would defend any black person (and on the eve of the latest O J Simpson arrest). Though I'm more inclined to agree with Slothrop overall. My biggest issue here is that the protests are just a little too much for this situation. The white kid probably deserved to get beat up, the black kids probably didn't deserve attempted murder, the courts should have been able to straighten out all this (of course the federal courts are loaded with Bush appointees these days - - thanks a lot, America!). As for nooses, that's free speech, baby. Unless it's vandalizing school property. (Not sure if it qualifies just because you usually have to cause monetary damage, and cutting down nooses costs nothing.)
