I don't even meet the parents of my white female FRIENDS. There's only so many times you'll make that mistake before announcing "never again."
Admittedly, I did meet the parents of my ex, on quite a few occasions -- but that's because she and I worked together and her parents visited her frequently, but they still to this day don't know that we dated for 2 years. However, they would have been a prime example of exactly why I don't meet parents (as a date): they wouldn't let her get the Dionne doll for her "Clueless" collection because Dionne was black, and they ripped her out of her first grade public school class and put her in a church school (even though they couldn't afford it) when they found out there were black students in her class.
The only date since 1997 whose parents I met as someone dating their daughter was the "Great" Melissa, whose parents seriously did not give a damn who their daughter was dating... or anything else their daughter was doing, apparently. Those are the best kind of parents (along with Mary's, whose parents were dead). I'm fairly sure if almost any of the other women who I dated's parents had found out their daughter was dating a black guy, they would have had a duck fit like Teresa's mother did back in 1997 (or the first Melissa's ex-husband from the same year). Man, those were some ugly nights.
And in my case, you can tell 100% sure it's racism. I have a stable job, a steady income, an unbelievable work ethic, I've yet to be arrested, I don't belong in a gang or aspire to be a rapper, I have a long list of accolades like high school valedictorian and National Merit Semi- Finalist and until recently, I was "on my way up" and a rather prominent citizen. Yet I was still not an acceptable date for these people's daughters. What does that tell you?
All that said, I have plenty of family members that would freak out if they knew I had dated any white women. Don't let black people fool you: when it comes to interracial dating, many of them (especially black females) are just as racist as anyone. One of my favorite tales was being at a restaurant with a white female date, going to the bathroom, coming back thinking nothing's wrong, then getting into the car and having her start crying on me because while I was in the bathroom some nearby black women came over to our table and said some really bad things to her about dating me.
