"In the long run, everything gets recycled. The total quantity of mass/energy is fixed. We can't run out of it."
The quantity of mass/energy may be fixed, but when it changes state it may no longer be consumable. Are you saying that as we consume fossil fuels, they'll be returned to a state in which we can reuse them?
