The british one DOES fit the movie better, as it brings all of the flashbacks of her daughter full circle, and it also hammers home the DESCENT into madness.
However, i also liked the American ending, as it implies that now the death of Juno is going to haunt her in much the same way that the death of her daughter had been haunting her the whole film.
I don't know why folks are ripping on the US ending so much. It isn't like everything is all flowers and rainbows at the end!
