I figured it out. It was "Phenomena" starring Jennifer Connelly. An American cut was made called "Creepers" which apparently left out alot of the film. If you watch the trailer on IMDB, you'll see 2 scenes in particular that reminded me of "The Descent." The first being the bloody pool that the girl falls into. The second is the encounter with the dead body underwater.
