The Midi-chlorian or whatever the heck it was was worse than bullshit. It actually gave the fantasy elements in this series a step backward.
It was a strange choice on Lucas' part, considering what he'd invested in the mythic/religious/non-physical aspects of 'The Force'. All to fit a immaculate birth into the picture.
I suspect he didn't fathom the implications of the choice.
I understand what you are saying about Jar-Jar Binks, but what are you talking about with the Trade Federation and blatently Chinese characteristics?
