Speaking of fantasy movies...I heard that Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series is being adapted as a weekly television series by some Canadian outfit. Zoinks. I've heard the project has Anne's full cooperation and involvement. I think that particular genre of books would be ideal for movies or television. I like to think of it as the "My Friend Flicka" category of fantasy. Young, unhappy (perhaps orphan) adolescent finds out they have a gift (music, empathy, whatever) and pick up an animal friend (dragon/fire lizard/Companion, elemental). Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey and Tanya Huff excel with this genre. I would love to see Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar on the big screen. Only her early Magic's Pawn, Promise, Price stuff though. Her recent stuff has been mass produced, poorly edited pap.
skorzenyII, I was wondering if the Kane books were still in print. I read copies belonging to a friend when I was in the 8th grade and I've started looking for them again with little success.
