Cry Havoc mentioned it, and he was right on track. "Excalibur" isn't just the greatest S&S movie of all time, it is one of the greatest MOVIES ever, period. Is it perfect? No, but it's sheer stylistic depth, scope, and maturity easily qualify it as a fantastic, adult film. John Boorman's best film, even better than "Deliverance".
And who can forget the music? Hell, it's the best thing about that stupid "13th Warrior" preview.
The Arthurian tales are ripe for a revival in the cinema. Too bad too many filmmakers reduce these great tales to either A)kiddie flicks with an emphasis on modern lingo and effects, or B)cheesy soap operas starring Richard Gere.
