I agree with Groucho, especially his comments on Beethoven since he is GOD! But much like morrison_hotel I dont know much about classical, so I will name the top six most underrated bands of all time, also probably the biggest no one knew were big.(no particular order)

10. Genesis(1969-1978) Never have I heard a band so good as Genesis. No, I dont mean "invisible touch" but Im referring to the Peter Gabriel on vocals days where there music ranged from punk, prague, fusion, classical you name it they did it. (Pick up Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Foxtrot)

9. Sparks- An ameriacn band who were absolutely huge in Europe and who by the way were extremely enjoyed by John Lennon. Ron(composer) and Russel(singer) Mael(also obsessed with the Marx brothers) wrote really bizarre, annoying yet catchy songs. Ron's writing style is absolutely hillarious such is the case in "girl form germany" where he writes about a girl he bring home and his parents think she is a nazi accompanied by Hitler. and Russell singing like he were a castrato. Pick up "woofer in Tweeters clothing" and "Kimono my house"

8. Cheap Trick- Pick up Cheap Trick, In colour, Heaven Tonight and Complete budokan. Enough said.

7. Pink Floyd- and no I dont mean Roger waters and gilmour I mean syd barrett the genius that started it all! So pick up Piper at the Gates of Dawn to see what real floyd sounds like.

6. Syd Barrett- after leaving the band released two solo albums which are absolutley brilliant. Pick up "Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett".

5. Now I know I said these are the top six most underrated bands, but I have to say the Beatles. Because no matter how brilliant they are and incredible there music is, they will never fully be understood, therefore underrated.

4. T-Rex- Marc Bolan is a genius. He was unfortunately only known for his hit Bang a Gong which is a great song but all the songs on "slider" and "electric warrior" beat it out. so get those two albums
