Admittedly, Eddie Van Halen was one hell of a guitar player. However, Van Halen as an overall band was highly uneven; the stuff with Diamond Dave was pretty good overall, but (ironically) Slammin' Sammy Haggar ended up taking the band in a lame adult-contemporary direction in his last couple of albums. I haven't even heard the current VH lineup...
Also, Iron Maiden was the best "glam" band.
