I would really have no problem putting Beethoven ahead of Mozart,or really putting any of the top three in any order. In my opinion, Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven are ALL the greatest composers that ever lived for a particular reason...Bach for precision, logic, harmony, and mastery of counterpoint..Mozart for melodic inventiveness...and Beethoven for emotional depth. Any ranking of Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart is almost arbitrary....I basically decided to rank Mozart first because he had such a profound influence on the music of Beethoven...to the point that without Mozart there might not have been a Beethoven...and without a Bach there might not have been ANYONE.
