He was sometimes very funny and I feel like him on a few things (although I never thought to myself "I know exactly how he feels, I'm just like Holden"; obviously the desired effect). The main problem I had with the book was Salinger's plotting. The only way I can still truly like a book (I didn't say I hated this book) with plotting like that is if I really like the main character, and can think of him as me. It helps if the ending has him doing something.
