On the subject of gross nationalistic generali[sz]ations, as an expat Kiwi who has done hard time in yankland, I can assure anybody that Americans {vast majority thereof} simply go-not-get dry or deadpan humo[u]r.
The fact that they are willing to pay for it and laugh at it may well be even funnier than the original comedy, but those of us who know how to find our own countries on a world map are a bit more likely to appreciate the underlying material as an added bonus.
