Most of the really neat slang phrases I know that tend to be area-exclusive are that way because they're usually derived from other languages (Italian, mostly). I'm particulary fond of "agita" (heartburn, acid reflux).
I often like to create my own slang... like "five-legged". I coined it on the spur of the moment to describe a sixpack of beer that was missing one bottle. My boss liked it so much that he started using it. Yay!
