any time i've used the term "roper" outside of dallas, people have given me this blank expression.
oh, another one: at my high school, girls who were considered ditzy were called "bowheads" (generally because they wore their hair in ponytails with, what else, huge bows) or "Nazis" (this is because they were all trying to be blonde and blue-eyed, and they acted like they were a superior race or something. technically, we should have been calling them Aryans, but whatever).
