I'm not making an attack on shooting someone whom you are sure is going to cause you great physical harm. That is clearly self-defense, and if you acquired the gun legally for the purposes of self-defense and only self-defense, and never used the gun until getting into a once-in-a-lifetime situation such as "Kelly's," that's not a problem. But I take objection to shooting someone repeatedly and unnecessarily beyond the point at which you have disabled them so they cannot cause you further physical harm.
