Finally, Soderbergh uses his powers for good again (Out of Sight, Full Frontal, Sex, Lies) and not evil (Traffic, The Limey, Erin Brockovich).
Couldn't help thinking of '2001' whilst watching this - and I'm sure that was on purpose. Soderbergh at last makes great use of his colour filters to separate the spaceship and dream/flashback sequences and Clooney is excellent - who said he couldn't do drama? Natascha McElhone is well cast too - those big eyes! Great romantic story, thought- provoking and exquisitely filmed. Loved the whole chunks of non-dialogue, where the score and action only are used to advance the story. Sci-fi special FX are minimal and very well used - Solaris itself looks quite beautiful.
Wow - 10/10.
