He sounds like a pedantic holier-than-thou FEEEEEEEELM snob in that review. Dead Poet's Society is a good movie. Good = I liked it. Lots of good performances in that movie.
I also have a personal fondness for the movie due to it being loosely based on Professor Sam Pickering who currently teaches at UCONN, the university attended by two of my favorite people on the face of the planet. I keep hoping one or both of them will get the opportunity to take one of his hugely popular courses. I know several people who have taken some of his English/Literature classes and swear he's an incredible professor and extraordinarily inspirational.
