So TESB is a sequel. Big friggin deal. It worries me that Mr Cranky subscribes to a seperatist theory about the Star Wars trilogy that we currently have. Not one iota of the two sequels or the three special editions was not part of the three original scripts (which were in reality written years before A New Hope was even cast). Funny how people forget that when they bag the movies.
Muppets? Well what the hell is Lucas meant to do when he wants to simulate creatures of another race? Go the Star Trek way and create the most annoying little sub-human characters ever concieved like Mr. Spock? I don't think so. And who gives a shit how Yoda speaks his English? What an American attitude to have, calling him names simply because he speaks his nouns and prepositions in a different order.
Personally, I believe the only thing wrong with The Empire Strikes Back is how little effort Obi-Wan and Yoda made to stop Luke from rushing off to face Vader without completing his training. If his training and reaching Jedi Knight-hood is everything the struggle of the Alliance depends on, then why the hell didn't they use their powers to stop him taking off, or just tell him the damned truth about what happened to his dad before he had to find out for himself?
Frankly, Mr. Cranky's dissection of this episode in the Star Wars story worries me. I suppose next he is going to tell us that episodes I, II, and III, which detail exactly how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, are irrelevant??
