I have rarely walked out of a movie. It's not because I'm easily pleased, it's because I'm cheap, and once I pay, I will get my money's worth. I often theater hop to achieve this objective. I could have seen every movie known to man that day and still would not have been reconciled in having to sit through this rancid piece of ape droppings.
It wasn't enough that the characters were static and unimaginative. It wasn't enough that every action scene was a direct rip off from another action movie. It wasn't enough that each moment of the movie was absolutely fortellable; you knew where, when, how, and why each character would die just from the context clues and supposed "foreshadowing." It wasn't even enough that the ending was predictable as hell; did that look familiar from, say, The Exhorcist to anyone else? No, none of that was enough. The writer had to toss in cheesy symbolism of psychological disturbance, pathetic "symbolic" names, lousy religious research (if there was any), and hordes of mixed up imagery
Did it occur to anyone else that the "predetermined" worship sites of the devil were marked off in Malachim, the language used by Qabbalists? Not to mention the pentacles...did anyone else notice that they were the wrong way around? They were not supposed to point upward for an evil rite....
Well, enough on my sensitive Pagan tramblings because that's not my point. My point was that no savvy devil is going to have hordes of worshippers practicing bloodletting and murder in dark, hooded cloaks in an active subway beneath New York. Don't you think someone would have noticed that? And no cop would have allowed Jericho to have been on the streets after the first ten minutes of the movie. Nor would any woman have trusted Jericho to walk her dog, let alone save her soul. The writer is assuming that anything non-Christian is satanic, that all police are bubling, donut eating fools, and that all an audience wants to see are rapes, murders, and trains exploding.
Come on, someone save me from this mindless, sexist divel!
