08/05/00: What a pile of rabbit droppings!

How disappointed was I with this film? - Very. I wasted nearly 2 hours of my precious life and £2 of my precious money on this steaming pile of horse dung. It has annoyed me so much that I felt the need to waste more of my life complaining about how bad it was. I hope to persuade anyone who has not watched it, to just not bother. Where do I begin? For a start they take a small verse out of the Book of Revelation and twist the original meaning, take it out of context and then try and make a film about it. You are probably better off reading the book of Revelation yourself - it's a lot more interesting and would probably take less that 2 hours to read it. Being a Christian and one who supports the reformation and the abolishment of the Roman Catholic faith, this film was offensive as much as it was pants. It would not surprise me if it were made as a Roman Catholic promotional video. Like they really know what they are doing! The film was an 18, certainly not for the complex story line (written for people with a mental age of 4) but probably for the unnecessary swearing and violence. I would have thought it was mainly because of the scene with the personified devil having sex with a mother and daughter at the same time with body mutation going on and stuff. This was very very bad and seemed to go on for ages. Why why why did they feel it necessary to put that bit in - the people who made this film were obviously some sad sadistic sick-in- the-head freaks. I thought that in this film we would see a cool intelligent Arnold Swartzy thing, but no they decided not to give him a cool new image at all. They got him to do the usual stuff. Yes the one liners, yes the hard man rubbish, it was saddening to watch. The girl was not much better. She was more like a rag doll, tossed around between people not really having a will of her own - it was pathetic. Most of the film seemed to be about the personified devil coming to earth to have sex with this chosen girl, Christine York and then he would set up his kingdom on earth. All this before the year 2000, and like it had to be before this time or else - like the devil keeps rigidly to dead lines! One of the worst parts of the film is when Arnold has a religious experience by looking at some graven images and idols in a Roman Catholic Church and throws down his gun saying 'God help me'. The film suggests that this saved his soul from the pits of hell and Gods perfect judgment - like I think there may be more to it than that. The ending is one of those sad typical American endings where the hero sacrifices his life for the world and as he is dying he sees his family that was murdered a few years back and every one is happy etc. I have vowed never to watch another American film again, but why stop there, possibly not another film ever! The people who made this film should be ashamed of themselves. They have wasted their life producing a load of heretical warped junk. God will judge them harshly, I hope.
