01/20/00: Molly...

...since when is death unusual?

We all die; you will, I will, the Queen of England will, even Disney and Elvis died.

We all die.

Nothing at all unsusal about it.

And the manner of death?

People die from all manner of weird and bizarre things, from being trampled by elephant, accidental electrocution, falling off of buildings or cliffs or out of trees, suicide, being eaten by sharks, various forms of murder, auto accidents, drowning, volcanic eruption, hurricanes/tornados, earthquake, etc.

Death is the usual manner of dying. Ain't no cure for it.

Now, your speech/paper:

Execution is the lawful killing of an offender.

Murder is the unlawful killing of a person.

If a homeowner catches and incapacitates someone, they are not expected to support that person in as JYD put it, "a cozy room for the rest of his life" (that's probably a paraphrase, so deal with it); they are expected to turn him over to the authorities, who will then make disposition of the remains-err, case.

The State is empowered to do so; we are supposed to be a society of laws, after all, and not an anarchist's wetdream.

You got an "A", huh? For regurgitating the classic Liberal pantywaist party line?

So much for education.

As to whether the Death Penalty is effective as is...toughie.

There are too many instances of individuals being railroaded for me to be completely behind it.

But that would be a matter of corruption in the specific instances of trial, rather than the fault of the penalty itself.

Clean up the basic system, I say, rather than throw out the penalties for criminal activity.

BTW, Molly, it's all well and good for someone to be so forgiving about the vicious crimes perpetrated upon them and theirs, but that is their perogative, and should be no deterrant to the State performing its lawful function, and smoking the scum like kippers.

Christ-Quoter: Didn't Jesus also say "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"?

At the time, the life of an offender belonged to the courts of Caesar.

Just so's you have something to think about.
