First, I’d like to give a great big “duh” to Wulfgar. Thank you for stating much of the painfully obvious. You’ll never hear me say that capital punishment ISN’T legal (unless, of course, it becomes illegal in my lifetime). So far, all I’ve said is that it SHOULDN’T be legal. This is my opinion. Pay attention, you might learn something.
As far as these executions, I never said death itself was unusual. Call me crazy, but I happen to find strapping a person to a chair and having electricity shot through them against their will as being a bit unusual. Ditto for being strapped to a table and having chemicals injected into your blood stream. Hmm…killed against their will…sounds like murder to me!
You said that a civilian, if they contain an intruder, is expected to turn him over to the authorities. Those authorities will then dispose of the intruder as they see fit. There’s more of the obvious being stated. Thanks! Yes, you are correct. My entire point was that killing a caged animal is murder, no matter who has authority over the cage. If I cage an intruder successfully and THEN kill him, it is murder. I think that policy should also hold for the government.
As far as the grade on my speech, it wasn’t determined by whether I convinced the class or my teacher. In fact, nearly all of them disagreed with me, though I must point out that most of them are wankers. My grade had more to do with appropriately and effectively applying what we were taught in class about how to research, write, and present a speech. I’ll be sure to let you know how the ditz who’s speaking in FAVOR of the death penalty does after I see her present on Monday. Though she’s a dip, and a poor speaker on top of that, so I’m not expecting much.
Amok: Some synonyms for “irrational”: unreasonable, foolish, crazy, silly, absurd, ridiculous. According to Microsoft Word, anyway. Do you not agree that being a criminal can ALSO sometimes be the above things?
