Good thing I put them in!
Morrison and Homeskillet each guessed 16 of 22 correctly. Both predicted that "Lord of the Rings" would win the most Oscars and both guessed 5 on the total. HOWEVER... Morrison also predicted that "A Beautiful Mind" would tie "LOTR" for the most Oscars AND his guess for the ending of the Oscars ceremony was six minutes later than Homeskillet's... so I'm giving Morrison the prize. CONGRATULATIONS!
Nobody else was really even close to them. Throwing Muses was third with 13, I came in 4th with 12, Parca was 5th with 11 and (I am not kidding) everyone else appears to have tied with 10, including Madness, who didn't even guess at half of the categories.
If you were only going by major categories (acting, directing, BP), Homeskillet and Parca would be tied with 4 of 6, and HS picked the most acting awards with all correct but Jim Broadbent as supporting actor. The only person who got that one right was Karen. She was also the only one who correctly guessed the "No Man's Land" upset over "Amelie." Somehow Homeskillet was the only one who guessed Denzel -- would have thought more would have taken the underdog in that race. Morrison and Homeskillet were the only ones to pick "A Beautiful Mind" for Best Adapted Screenplay -- though I have no idea why *I* didn't make that my choice. I thought I did until I looked at my entry form. What the hell was I thinking? 99 % of the time the Best Picture wins a Best Screenplay award! Anyway, all of the other categories were picked correctly by three or more people. Only two categories were correctly guessed by everyone: Jennifer Connelly for Best Supporting Actress and Lord of the Rings for Makeup. Though Homeskillet would have won the Oscar contest had he gone with EVERYONE else on Best Picture and picked "A Beautiful Mind."
It was fun, guys -- thanks for your participation. And this is probably the best I've ever done -- usually I don't even bat .500! I'm much better at guessing who will be nominated (came in second there this year and first or second most other years) than who will win, because the Academy is loony and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too political.
