"A scientist travels to a distant, debris-strewn space craft where the ship's log reveals that the crew has been driven mad by hallucinations generated by the subconscious guilt associated with past experiences. A mysterious power compelled them, as it does the current crew, to materialise their inner obsessions in solid form, including a child and a past victim. The scientist's ex-wife, a suicide, materialises and forces him to confront his own past and personal responsibility."
This is the basic plot of the classic 1972 Russian film "Solaris" directed by the late Andrei Tarkovsky, from the novel by Stanislaw Lem, and staring the hauntingly beautiful Natalya Bondarchuk.
Whoever is responsible for the abortion called "Event Horizon" should at least acknowledge his source, before apologising profusely and promising never to make another movie ever.
