Since you asked and obviously haven't read the novel, she only blew up the surface buildings of an obviously huge military complex. Lots of folks survived. If they want her dead all they have to do is wait until she calms down and hit her with a sniper bullet from a quarter mile away (so she can't target the shooter). I suspect that cooler heads will prevail and see past the power pussy paranoia that foretells the end of the world.
